One of our amazing registered veterinary nurses (RVN) will be tackling the Great North Run next month to raise money for charity.
Lauren Bowe has signed up to take part in the famous half marathon to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
An RVN here at Kentdale, Lauren was inspired to support the charity after her mum suffered a heart attack last year.
She said: “I’m currently training hard for this year’s Great North Run, raising money for the British Heart Foundation, which supports those living with cardiac and circulatory diseases. I chose this charity after my mum suffered a heart attack last May.
“She continuously supports me in every challenge I take on and is always my biggest cheerleader. She’s also the most selfless person I know – even in recovery from her stent, she was worrying if we’d eaten the dinner she was preparing when she had her heart attack!”
Lauren qualified as an RVN in 2016 and worked in general practice for three years before moving to Kentdale in 2020, where her colleagues have been fully supporting her fundraising mission.
She added: “I moved to Kentdale to develop my nursing skills and become more involved inpatient care. While here, I’ve also been improving my knowledge in orthopaedic surgery and anaesthesia.
“It’s been great to have the support of my colleagues at Kentdale while I’ve been training for the half marathon.”
