KENTDALE CROWNED THE PURR-FECT PLACE FOR FELINE PATIENTS

The team here at Kentdale are celebrating after receiving the ultimate recognition for our outstanding care for cats.

We’re all over the moon to have earned a coveted gold award as a cat-friendly clinic by the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM).

Our cat advocates, Lauren Robinson and Emily McHugh, a patient care assistant, said it was a fabulous achievement by the team, which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to ensuring the very best care for cats.

Student veterinary nurse Lauren said: “We’re all delighted to have become a gold-accredited cat-friendly practice.

“Our goal was to be able to provide the best possible care and experience for our feline patients. It’s a wonderful achievement for the team, who are trained to be aware of the specific needs of cats and their owners.

“We have a range of feline-friendly facilities in place, as well as ways of working, to make any visit as stress-free as possible for both cats and their owners.”

The ISFM set up the cat-friendly clinic programme to help and encourage veterinary hospitals and practices to make cats’ visits less stressful and to cater for feline patients, specifically within clinics.

The aim is to ensure the delivery of a much better experience for both cats and their owners, with accredited clinics earning bronze, silver or a prestigious gold award.

We have certainly bought into the ISFM programme and have invested significant time and effort into becoming the cream of the crop.

Kentdale Hospital Director Sharon Murtagh said: “We have concentrated on making the hospital as user-friendly as possible for our feline patients from the moment they arrive to the moment they are discharged.  We have quiet examination rooms for individual, private assessments and a fully appointed cat ward with a layout that prevents sight of other cats.

“The ward also provides individual igloos for privacy, which are all equipped with comfortable, cosy bedding to make our cats as comfortable and relaxed as possible while they are in our care.”
