Outpatient Advanced Imaging (CT)
At Kentdale Referrals, we provide access to CT imaging on an outpatient basis.
While ‘imaging only’ scans are available, we strongly advise an ‘imaging and report’ service, which includes a comprehensive written report by a Specialist in Diagnostic Imaging (Antech Imaging Services).
CT is especially useful to help investigate and assess the following conditions:
- Contrast studies: CT contrast urography, portosystemic shunts
- ENT: middle ear disease, nasal disease
- Orthopaedic: elbow dysplasia, bone pathology, neoplasia, osteomyelitis, 3D reconstructions
- Oncology: staging of neoplasia and as an aid to planning surgical interventions.
Our team are happy to discuss with you which type of scan would be most suitable for your patient and the clinical condition being investigated.
Accessing Kentdale Outpatient Imaging Service
Kentdale outpatient imaging service is available every Thursday. Should you have an imaging request outside of these times please contact our team on 015395 67241 who will be happy to discuss availability with you on a case by case basis.
All patients must be formally referred to us for CT imaging purposes by a referring vet.
As part of our Outpatient Imaging Service our team will co-ordinate the imaging of the patient, following which referring vets will be supplied with access to the images and a full written report from a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist.
During outpatient imaging, the client will have an admission and discharge appointment with an Intern or Registered Veterinary Nurse.
All patients will be examined by a Veterinary Surgeon prior to the sedation or anaesthesia administered to facilitate diagnostic imaging.
Clients will be required to pay in full for the imaging service on the day of the procedure unless a direct claim is approved. Please therefore ensure clients are aware of the costs before making an imaging referral. We accept most debit and credit cards and cash as forms of payment.
Imaging findings will not be discussed with the client directly. Patients/clients will not be given any treatments for the conditions being investigated or treatment recommendations, except in emergency situations where the patient’s health and welfare is at risk, in such cases we will always try to contact you, the referring vet promptly, and keep you informed.
