Orthopaedics is the branch of medicine that deals with the prevention or correction of injuries or disorders of the skeletal system and associated muscles, joints, and ligaments.
This often involves investigating and treating lameness, limb deformity and joint pain. Our most commonly treated joint conditions include cranial cruciate ligament rupture, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and patellar luxation.
We also see many animals that have fractured bones as a result of trauma or that have limb deformities that benefit from correction. Orthopaedics does not only involve surgery and covers the medical treatment of arthritis.
We offer a wide variety of treatments for orthopaedic disease which includes arthroscopy, fracture repair, joint replacement or resurfacing, arthrodesis (joint fusion) in addition to many specific surgical procedures including tibial plateau levelling osteotomy for cruciate ligament rupture.
