A paralysed dachshund has regained the ability to walk again thanks to surgery carried out by our talented team here at Kentdale.<\/p>\n

Eight-year-old Jay required intricate spinal surgery after suffering a slipped disc that was causing substantial spinal cord compression.<\/p>\n

Such was the success of the neurological surgery to reduce the nerve pressure and repair the slipped disc and area around it, that it was only a matter of days before Jay was up and about.<\/p>\n

Jay\u2019s relieved owner Steph Whyte, who lives near Workington, said: \u201cWhen Jay became paralysed my world was turned upside down.<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t understand how Jay could go from being completely fit and athletic to being paralysed from the shoulders down.<\/p>\n

\u201cI rushed him to an emergency Vet who was very knowledgeable and referred Jay to Kentdale, where he was operated on straight away.<\/p>\n

\u201cTruly, I can say the team at Kentdale saved Jay\u2019s life, for which I could not be more grateful \u2013 little Jay is my whole world.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is now completely back to normal and running around with his big happy smile.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jan Beranek<\/a>, EBVS European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery here at Kentdale, said: \u201cJay\u2019s surgery was a complex and lengthy procedure that was not without risk.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, it was a complete success, and Jay was allowed home after a couple of days with a physio care plan created specifically for him by our in-house physiotherapy experts. We\u2019re delighted to see Jay make a speedy recovery and get back on his paws so soon after surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n
