Christmas is a time for giving and our team have been delighted to hand over a special delivery to support West Midlands Safari Park.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Finding an entirely different way of helping animals as part of our recycling regime, we did not want to waste the chance to find a new use for discarded plastic trays and bowls from our operating theatres.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So, we\u2019ve teamed up with the Worcestershire safari park to come up with a novel idea to help out some of the park\u2019s furry and feathered residents.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sharon Murtagh, Hospital Director here at Kentdale, explained: \u201cWe\u2019re very environmentally aware and are always looking to find new ways to cut down on waste and find sustainable solutions. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThis is one of the most creative and enjoyable results, though, with the safari park now finding a brilliant new way to use our old trays and bowls from the operating theatre. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so good to see the bowls being used to feed the various residents at the safari park!\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

West Midlands Safari Park Vet Nurse Sarah Smith added: \u201cAs a company, we are keen to recycle and help protect the environment wherever we can, so we are very thankful for the donation. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe bowls and trays have come in very handy across our park for food preparation to novel enrichment ideas across many species.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cReptiles have enjoyed the shallow trays as water baths and our meerkats have loved having a spread of food items on them so they can move it around and scavenge.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe bowls and trays have also come in very useful in our veterinary department as well as being used for moving feeds from prep areas to enclosures.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our dedicated team at Kentdale has already been recognised for our green credentials, recently earning a bronze award from Investors in the Environment (iiE) after a concerted effort to cut emissions and waste across all departments at the hospital. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Sharon said we won\u2019t be resting on our laurels as we are keen to go one better and gain a silver iiE award next year.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She added: \u201cAt Kentdale, we recognise that businesses influence the environment in many ways and that’s why we are committed to the constant improvement of our environmental performance.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to be working with iiE and\u00a0 our bronze status was a great reward for the team\u2019s combined efforts so far.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
