{"id":397,"date":"2022-04-14T15:27:05","date_gmt":"2022-04-14T14:27:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kentdalevets.co.uk\/news\/?p=397"},"modified":"2022-08-02T13:29:23","modified_gmt":"2022-08-02T12:29:23","slug":"our-top-team-bond-fracture-after-skye-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentdalevets.co.uk\/news\/our-top-team-bond-fracture-after-skye-fall\/","title":{"rendered":"Our top team bond fracture after Skye fall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A puppy called Skye was left feeling blue when she suffered a serious fracture to her leg after falling down a set of stairs.<\/p>\n<p>The four-month-old French Bulldog needed corrective surgery by our specialist-led team, led by soft tissue cases and small animal specialist Graham Hayes who took charge of the case.<\/p>\n<p>Graham explained: \u201cSkye was referred to us at Kentdale after falling down some stairs and becoming lame on her left foreleg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was sent for X-rays which confirmed a unicondylar humeral fracture of the left leg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe injury was serious and required surgery to place two screws into the bone to stabilise and strengthen the fracture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSurgery went well, and Skye was allowed home after recovering uneventfully from the two-hour operation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe still needed three months of careful rest and recuperation, though, and we gave her owners strict instructions to limit exercise for the next six weeks to allow the fracture to begin to bond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter those six weeks had elapsed, we did follow-up X-rays, and they showed clear evidence of good healing of the fracture, and she will be able to return to normal exercise and activity 12 weeks after the operation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Skye\u2019s owner Gill Edmondson, from Carnforth, said: \u201cSkye jumped down the stairs, and straight away we knew something was wrong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe fell onto her elbow and screamed, so we took her to our local vets, and they kept her overnight before referring her to Kentdale the next day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, we were devastated to learn she had suffered a serious fracture and needed surgery to repair the damage because she was still a baby.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKentdale were so supportive, thorough and quick, efficient and caring, so we never really looked back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, Skye\u2019s fully recovered and is running and jumping everywhere, so we would definitely recommend Kentdale to other pet owners as they were absolutely fantastic throughout.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A puppy called Skye was left feeling blue when she suffered a serious fracture to her leg after falling down a set of stairs.
